Splendid Sampler

By now I'm sure you know... Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson are running the biggest star-studded quilt-along ever and it's called The Splendid Sampler.

They invited 82 friends to help design -- There are 100 blocks -- Two block patterns are released each week -- They're all free until next year (Feb 2017) when they'll be put together in a book -- And the coolest part?  Pat and Jane asked me to join the design team and today's my day to show you my block!

I love nature and when Pat and Jane asked me to design my block

based on my love then a nature stitchery just had to be created.

There are ladybugs and a butterfly which I truly love and the

flowers are of course there for them to drink the nectar.

Such a sweet and pretty embroidery block, right?  

Use the back-stitch, satin-stitch, or whatever you like.  

I made the design with the intention of spending a few nights

stitching as I love sitting at night after my day as its a great wind

down for me. Just take one stitch at a time :)  

  Using two-strand embroidery floss, and if you use Aurifil Ne12

then only the one strand.

I love using Aurifil threads and they are my most favourite to use.

The one above is using Traditional fabrics and this one below is

using bright fabrics. To give you an idea that any colour is perfect.

I ended up putting my blocks into a Zippy Pouch

Doesn't it look gorjuss?? 

Love these pouches as they are so handy for lots of things.

Hello and Summer is scooting along nicely...not too many hot days and lots of nice warm ones.

I want to tell you about a very exciting venture in the quilting world..

Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson got together and have come up with an amazing venture...and they asked me to be a part of it all...

 

I am very excited about this as it means the block that I designed and stitched will be among the 83 designers who are giving their free blocks in this year long sew along project.

 

It's called..

 

The Splendid Sampler

When Pat Sloan and Jane Davidson invited me to be one of the 83 designers contributing to their brilliant 2016 sew along project, The Splendid Sampler, I was over the moon and so thrilled and how could I not participate?

I loved designing and stitching my block and I can't wait to show you all.

(Mine is out on April 21st)

Next year it will be in The Splendid Sampler book that Pat and Jane have organised to have printed. Wow!!

 Over a year there will be 100 free blocks shared with a mix of patchwork, embroidery, applique and paper piecing.  The first block will be shared with you all on February 14th 2016...and so pop on over and have a read about it all ... just click the picture below and it will take you to where Pat and Jane have explained it all.

This is amazing!!! Over a year since I did a blog post.

I have been busy with several things and sewing and quilting and quite a few other things.

 

Please don't be shocked that I have finally done a blog post...I hope to do more so wonders never cease Hehehe!

Blissful Blooms

 

 

First up I designed this adorable table runner from the gorjuss fabrics 'Bloom and Bliss' by Ellis&Higgs ...I love it and fell inlove with it the minute I saw it.

I got several lots of the fabric in my shop and it went as quick as a flash out the door. Should have ordered lots and lots.

Anyway I had a few lovely ladies test this pattern for me and they really enjoyed it and found a few mistakes in the pattern but not too many (thank goodness).

 

The lovely Nelly Holmes made a lovely version in her fabrics

 

 

Amy Stuck made it in the Bloom and Bliss fabrics and it has turned out superb.

 

Love them both and thanks for being my testers.

Enjoy sewing it and please show me your finished one. I love seeing everyone's interpretation of my designs.

 

 

I had fun sewing up this fabulous Grab and Stash bag and am hoping to make some more. Cant have enough bags full of stitching stuff to grab on the way out the door. You never know when you will be sitting and waiting and to be able to stitch up your hexies or fun little stitcheries.

 

 

 

I have a heap of photos to show you and will do in the next couple of posts.
